BEREAVEMENT

I provide individual counselling to adults who have experienced the death of a person. Bereavement, in its origin, means the state of being deprived. Grief is a natural multi-dimensional response to bereavement that can occur after a death and may reoccur with developmental changes, significant dates, or life events.

TRAUMATIC GRIEF

I provide individual counselling to adults who have experienced traumatic grief. With traumatic grief, the dying, death, or mourning process may be experienced as traumatic or a traumatic event may be connected to the loss. The trauma of the experience(s) can intertwine with the grief process, creating the two-fold challenge of coping with both the trauma and the grief. This intersection may compound the grief responses.

MAID BEREAVEMENT
SUICIDE BEREAVEMENT

I provide individual counselling to adults who have experienced the death of a person by MAID. Grieving a medically assisted death may involve different experiences and emotions related to planning and navigating social responses.

I provide individual counselling to adults who have experienced the death of a person from suicide. Grieving a death from suicide may involve experiences and reactions that are more pronounced and can contribute to challenges coping with the loss. Social stigma and misunderstanding of suicide may also create feelings of isolation in grief.

PREGNANCY LOSS
PET LOSS

I provide individual counselling to adults who have experienced a pregnancy loss. Grief is a natural response to the loss of a pregnancy for women, men, partners, and family members. The depth of grief from pregnancy loss may not be socially acknowledged, which can make the grieving process more difficult.

I provide individual counselling for adults who are grieving the death of a pet or who are anticipating the loss of a pet. Pets are chosen family and grief is our natural response to this loss of someone we value. Grieving a pet can be made more difficult when the significance of the loss is not recognized.

ANTICIPATORY GRIEF
NONFINITE LOSS

I provide individual counselling for adults who are anticipating the death of a person. Grief can be experienced for an expected loss and in response to tangible and intangible losses that are happening during the process.

I provide individual counselling for adults who are grieving a nonfinite loss or significant life-changing event. Nonfinite losses are losses that are ongoing without a finite ending, such as caregiving experiences, profound health disruptions, or loss of hopes or expected plans.

ECOLOGICAL GRIEF
GRIEF ALLYSHIP

I provide individual counselling for adults who are experiencing grief related to past, present, or anticipated losses of species, ecosystems, and natural landscapes due to climate and environmental changes. Tangible and intangible climate and environmental changes cause layers of loss that we carry as deep grief both individually and collectively.

I provide individual counselling to adults seeking to support a person who is bereaved or grieving and to those wanting to expand their own grief awareness and grief literacy. Understanding grief-informed ways to attend to others and oneself can be helpful.
